Bird Watching

Status:Active, open to new members
Coordinator:
When: Monthly on Monday mornings 10:00 am
First Monday of the month

The Bird Watching group started in January 2019 and is led by Sue, who is an amateur and enthusiastic bird watcher. Sue spends one day a week as a bird recorder at the London Wetland Centre (WWT London) and at various birding sites in the South East. She is also a volunteer for the RSPB.

We follow more or less the same route every month; we start at the entrance to the Middlesex Filter Beds at 10:00, then walk across the Hackney and Walthamstow Wetlands, creating a regular 'birding patch'. The walk finishes at the Engine room café, where coffee and food can be obtained, or alternatively in the Ferry Boat pub across Ferry Lane. Please bring suitable warm clothing and binoculars. The walk takes place on the first Monday of each calendar month.

The Bird Watching group notes the birds observed each month (by sight or by sound) and we have been maintaining these records since the group started in January 2019. This information is available by selecting the birdlist link below.

There is a maximum number of 10 for this group. Please contact Sue Barry if you are interested in joining and for details of the walk and meeting place.
