Before each meeting, a member of the group volunteers to choose and share a poem with the group. Before they read the poem to the group, they share why they have made the choice and what the poem means to them. There are always people who will volunteer to read the poem if the person bringing the poem to the group doesn’t want to read aloud themselves. Occasionally we choose one long poem.
A link to the poem is emailed the evening before, so that the group can talk about their immediate responses and discuss the poem together
The group leader writes a blog about the chosen poets which follows on from the group discussion, answering questions from the discussion or adding more information. Members of the group are welcome to contribute to the blog too. Everyone and every poem are very welcome- and it is fine to love, dislike or feel indifferent about any of the choices.
